1000 miles challenge - July and August 2017

August 31, 2017

I’ve combined July and August as the 2 months have swept by so fast!

July Miles done: 80, which is my highest since the start of the year.

August Miles done: 72

Leaving me with 470 to do in 4 months, it’s possible!

On the plus side I have raised £798.75 as part of my 1000 miles challenge, with my target of £1000, so almost there.

I will sum up my favourite moments of the challenge in July and August.

Muddy Furlong

Finally managed to persuade Lee (after 3 years) to do an obstacle run. Doing this race with Lee, Katie and Graeme had so much fun. I love this course. It’s great if you’re new to obstacle racing. Great selection of obstacles using the land, such as the mud hills, cargo nets and water slide. There is also plenty of mud! Think we literally spent our whole time laughing round the course, mainly because Lee kept falling over! Lee did awesome, for his first race. Managed to sign him up to Uventure at the end of July.

Muscle Acre

Katie and I, were signed up to a 15K obstacle run the day after Muddy Furlong at Muscle Acre. Crazy we know! We were feeling slightly delicate and aching from the day before. I loved this course, it was very me. Lots of monkey bars, ninja rings, rigs and carrying things, all things I love on a course. At the last few miles we were starting to crack. The marshalling was great and very supportive encouraging us along to end.

You can watch the video of what we got up to via our You Tube Channel:

Uventure

Uventure kindly let us have a charity stand to raise money and promote the work of our charity. So, thanks to Jo, Laura and Keith who gave up their day to help us.

I had done Uventure, previously known as Iron Run, the year before. They had seriously upped their game. There was more obstacles, such as rigs, jumping over fire, the half pipe and the most militant and scary slide I have ever been on. Not a fan of deep water, I gave it a go and I did it! It was great facing a fear but I literally felt sick by the end of it. Again plenty of mud and water. We had a great laugh going round, by the end of it we were battered and bruised!
