About the Event

THE WORKSHOP - WHAT TO EXPECT?

We would love if you would join us by booking your space to attend our workshop taking place on Wednesday 31st July 2024 between 6pm - 8pm within an incredible business based in Milton Keynes called Aiimi.

LOW IMPACT EXERCISE & CHAIR BASED CLASSES WITH 1ST STEPS REHAB FITNESS SUPPORT

Kamaljit will be leading a low impact class designed for those looking for a gentle introduction into fitness and rehab and health maintenance. We work on upper body, lower body, core body strength and balance, either seated or standing, depending on what suits you best.

Just because you doing a chair based exercise or low impact, it doesn’t mean you won’t get a good work out.

Refreshments will also be available free of charge for you to enjoy if you are attending the person.

This is a fantastic opportunity to meet others that have been diagnosed with cancer who will be attending the event.

At the end of the session you will be able to take away a SMILE Wellbeing Kit, containing 2 Naturally Tribal Skincare Products and a number of other goodies.

This is open to any adult that has been diagnosed with cancer and a carer. We do not limit carer to being someone in a paid capacity. This can be a spouse, partner, family member, friend or colleague. Anyone who us supporting you.

If you are attending with carer, both of you must book a ticket.

We can't wait to see you there!

If you have any questions before booking, email: hello@thelewisfoundation.co.uk

WHAT IS SMILE?

SMILE is a collaborative project between The Lewis Foundation and Naturally Tribal Skincare. The initiative is simply to put a SMILE on Patients' Faces by doing something tangible, something fun, unique, different, and results-driven. Following a cancer diagnosis, finances are one of the first hits that patients experience and SMILE aims to make it easier in so many ways.

There certainly is an emotional gap for cancer patients out in the community when they are away from the hospital setting.

SMILE aims to help address this gap for the patient, engage, and put a smile on patients, families, and carers' faces, with a special focus on reaching diverse populations. SMILE welcomes any race, gender, disability, or sexual orientation and supports all cancer patients and their caregivers.

SMILE will focus on two aspects:

  1. Running blended online/face-to-face workshops and events, within the community specifically for cancer patients, their families, and carers
  2. The provision of well-being kits is made available to adult cancer patients who are either at home or in the hospital regardless of means/affordability.

We now commence the launch of the SMILE Project in the Milton Keynes area thanks to funding by Milton Keynes Community Foundation. Their Transformation Grant will enable this project to run for a period of 12 months. This means that participants can attend this event and receive a wellbeing kit for FREE as a result of this funding.
