After seeing my mum go through the journey of cancer, it made me realise how hard it was for people not only physically but also mentally and financially. People spent so much time in hospital having treatment. My wife and I wanted to bring happiness to cancer patients. We wanted to help stop boredom and loneliness. After setting up the charity, it made me stronger and more positive. I realised I loved to make people happy and hated seeing people sad. I used to be a shy person and did not want to speak. I now have the confidence to speak to people. I love helping others on a daily basis.
Until Lee’s mum was diagnosed with cancer, I had never experienced what it was like for someone with cancer and the impact it had on their family. Spending time in hospital when my mother-in-law was diagnosed with cancer for a period of 4 years made me realise how tough it was for people. I hated seeing people sad and lonely. Together with Lee, we came up with the idea of giving people gifts to cheer people up and make people smile. I am so grateful for the people I have got to meet, memories that have been created and how people are willing to help others when they need it the most. I balance doing the charity work with my full-time job. However, when I give my time to The Lewis Foundation it doesn’t feel like work, it makes me happy.
I have found being a member of "Team Lewis" rewarding and enjoyable, knowing that we are making a difference to someone's day to day life going through cancer treatment. This is an amazing feeling. It has helped with me personally understanding more about the condition and the ongoing struggle to beat it. To bring a smile to somebody's face who is going through treatment is what we are all about.

I could not be more proud to be involved with The Lewis Foundation. It has been remarkable to watch it grow from a couple of wonderful people doing remarkable work for a fantastic cause into the well oiled goodness machine that it has become. All credit must go to Lorraine and Lee for their unswerving dedication and hard work and to the tireless team of volunteers who are so generous with their time.
